Sitting here watching FBI Files. I feel content to have stayed home for almost four months now. I was able to take a good break from work to be with my little man. He has grown bigger from that 5.9 lbs late preemie December baby. It wasn’t a smooth road at all. Two days after taking him home, we went back to the ER for hyperbilirubinemia and ended up spending two days at the Loma Linda NICU. A month after, he had a thrush which eventually went away after five days of antibiotics. Then, his cradle cap started just after he turned two months. The pediatrician said it wasn’t major and that most babies go through hormonal changes that affects their skins.
.
After a week, the cradle cap descended to his face. The Doctor diagnosed it as seborrheic dermatitis and prescribed an over the counter 1% Hydrocortisone. It worked well in the first five days after which the rash came back on his left cheek and would not seem to go away. So back we went for another Doctor’s appointment. This time we were given two prescriptions of atopic dermatitis ointments, Triamcinolone Acetonide (a topical cortocosteroid) and Mupirocin (an antibacterial cream). I am now giving it more time to take effect. Hopefully, his skin will clear up soon.
.
But setting aside his skin problems, his overall health is just perfect. Now three times bigger than his original weight, he is coping and adapting well. He now can hold his head up; he coos, laughs, giggles and makes all cute sounds. Just so adorable! He is a playful little one and is adored by his big sister Alyssa. Saying all these, I feel so fortunate to have extended my maternity leave and be a full time Mom for a short time. These days are just priceless.
