In the Philippines, this flower specie is called Gumamela. Most of them grow wild and not really considered ornamental. They come in different colors and can be seen in a distance because of their sizes. When I immigrated to the US in 2003, I was amazed at how these flowers bring a garden to life. I have never really appreciated their beauty before. Upclose, the Hibiscus pistil is the most delicate that I’ve seen, it is a wonder you only see through a high definition microscope…
