Last Week in Review:
My week starts on a Sunday since the hospital is so wise to split our weekends to two different pay periods. Ate Myla was right when she said that by doing this, they can actually make you work straight 13 days without paying you overtime. And it’s true, it almost happened to one of my friends at work. She was scheduled thirteen days before one of the supervisors realized it. And even if they reduced her days, she still ended up working 8 days in a row. But, it is what it is. And I came to accept my time at work and take advantage of my days off.
So, I worked today and continued distance myself to one person I can’t seem to convince myself to trust. I feel like all my efforts in tolerating and trying to be patient with her is taking away my positive outlook at work, and that I find it easier to walk away rather than to be cornered on that spot and be forced to say something I will end up regretting. It happened before and I learned from it. Pointless arguments are just a waste of time.
After working the weekends, I am just about ready for Monday to end. The good thing about Mondays though, it seems to be the quietest day of the week at the ER. Eight hours just dragged by… but it passed.
My day off. It feels weird to be off the second day of the week. It threw me off. I was, like, asking what the day was. My mind was all confused.
Back to work. Again. Middle of the week and I still have four more days to go before hitting my long weekend. I actually asked Kim if I can be off Friday too. Initially, she approved it. Probably because we are short handed that she eventually changed the schedule and had me back working Friday.
I thought today is just one of my regular days at work. But I was wrong. Before I went to lunch at 7, Rolly called asking if he can take Mama to our ER because her blood pressure is really high, 200/70. I work at Loand ma Linda I know we are not contracted with her insurance but since LLUMC is the closest ER, so I said yes. After 30 minutes, I saw them walking in. The nurses were all really nice. She ended up being admitted for the night… well, that’s what we thought.
We were wrong. At three o’clock, I spoke with Nurse Sam and she said she is unstable to go home. Her heart rate was very low and her hypertension has not gone down. The hospital is not taking her history of hypertension on their books, they said history and no history, they are not about to release her because she might end up coming back. Mama was way to anxious, too. I noticed how worried and unrelaxed she was. I know her… and I know how she gets all stressed out. It was not helping at all. She stayed another night…
I was off! Thanks God. I felt really tired. All drained up, I slept from 2:00 am ’till 10:00 am. We are expecting family and friends today for Rolly’s birthday. We ordered the Pacquiao-Marquez fight via PPV, too. As soon as I woke up, I started cleaning up and organizing. Alyssa’s stuff are everywhere the house. Toys, papers, blankets, crayons… this tiny girl makes serious mess. After stopping by the grocery to pick up some party essentials, we went to the hospital to get Mama. She cannot wait to leave the hospital that I was so worried they her blood pressure before discharge will go higher than normal again. But she was fine. We got home around 3:00 in the afternoon. Rolly went to Corona to pick up the food we ordered from Manila Seafood, then to Costco to buy his own cake =). Meanwhile, I was busy cooking Papaitan and Macaroni Salad to add up to the menu. Then, I ha dto head out to WalMart to get Mama’s medications. When I got home, most of those who planned on coming were already there. Ate Myla and Ate Raquel were picked up where I left off, and were baking some goodies. Everyone made it safe… Ate Lynne, Michelle and TJ were a little late. We already ate when they got here. And Ian rushed over just to watch the fight.
The party was all good. FUN. So much fun! I took some pictures too… and here they are:
“Celebrating Rolly’s Birthday with family and friends on the 12th. Same day as the Pacquiao-Marquez boxing fight night. It was worth the PPV fee. ‘Twas so much fun, and food from Manila Seafood was great…”
